Frequently Asked Questions
Why Access Control
Implementing
Access Control can control movement through areas within your facility.
This will allow entry by authorized cardholders only.
You can determine where that person can go and when they go there.
Cards can be added or deleted from the system in a matter of seconds.
This will make master key systems a thing of the past, you never
need to carry bunches of keys. And as with key systems if you loose
a key the system becomes un-secure, you will then have to replace
every lock in the building
With Access Control you simply delete the card, and if anyone uses
the card the system will tell you which area of the building they
are in, and if you wish set off a system alarm.
Control Access to many areas across multiple sites.
Control Access to Doors, lifts, roller shutters, car-park barriers
all from one card.
Integrate this with Closed Circuit television, cashless vending,
Visitor management and Photo ID.
With Access Control you remain in control.
It is a True Global solution!!
FAQ
Q: Can I allow different levels of Access through the restricted
areas?
A: Yes most Access Control systems have the facility to Create Access
Levels.
This allows you to put a restriction on each card or a group of
people using the system
Example: The Cleaners in the offices may be restricted to certain
areas at certain times 6am to 9am, whereas the directors may be
allowed 24 hr access to all areas unrestricted.
Q: Can the Access control readers be installed onto existing car
park barriers, roller shutters or lifts?
A: Yes, this will allow you to use one card for all areas.
Q: Can the Access control software run on any P.C or will I have
to have a new machine just to run it.
A: Most software packages can run on your existing P.Cs running
Microsoft Windows. The specification of the P.C would be checked
prior to the installation being carried out. Some systems can even
be connected to the LAN infrastructure, this way you can access
the software from any PC on the network which has the software installed
onto it (with a secure log on password).
Q: Does the system support Photo Identification?
A: All systems can have photo ID on them. Global Installations Ltd
however provide a card design service for customers who do not want
the expense of a card printer, but do want ID to create awareness.
Types of systems that are available:
1..Stand Alone
At the simplest level is a stand-alone reader. This provides access
control to a single door/ area with little or no management control.
This would be used in a simple off the shelf solution.
2..Networked System
To control multiple doors within a facility, a networked system
would be the choice for you.
With this system the security administrator has the facility to
control each access door/area from a management computer.
It is at this point card can be added or deleted from the system,
reports can also be generated to see who has been where and at what
time.
Multi user systems can allow more than one administrator the right
to update or modify the database.
Such systems provide convenience with flexibility; modern systems
are very user friendly and require minimal training for system administrators
3..Integrated systems
This would allow the access control card to be used for interconnection
with Closed circuit television/ lift control / cashless vending
etc.
This system would be used for unique system designs, where a customer
had a specific security requirement.
