Access Control, Basic Types
Barcode And
Magnetic Strip |
 |
Barcode and Magnetic Strip Readers (or mag stripe) as they are commonly know are now old technology, at Global we can repalce your worn out readers and cards and in most cases we can re-use the existing door hardware. New technology readers are now completely contactless and work on an RF chip which is installed inside the card. Because the technology is contactless the cards and readers last a lifetime and there are no more time consuming mis-reads or faulty cards. |
Proximity Cards |
 |
Proximity cards as described above are also printable meaning that not only does the card function with the Access Control system but it also doubles as an ID card for both secure and corporate environments. |
Biometric Systems |
 |
Global Installations can install state of the art Biometric finger / thumb print readers. Our range of readers now also sense the pulse as well as the print and are an ideal addition to your Access Control system where you have an ultra secure area that needs protecting. An instance where we have installed a biometric reader is on the dealers floor in the London Stock Exchange. |
Hands Free Technology |
 |
HANDS FREE Access
Control is probably the ultimate in access control technology.
The system has been pioneered by Cotag International for whom
Global have been dealers since 2001. The card or Fob is available
in several forms and allows the user to walk towards the locked
door and unlock it as they approach thanks to a signal picked
up by the card reader. Each card imparts a unique signal and
can be individually recognised and the appropriate action
taken when the card comes into range. The system is particularly
well suited to buildings where the card reader must be out
of site as the system can work through solid walls. Medical
applications are also popular as the system is hands free
and cuts down on time wasting and being hands free it is more
hygienic.

Remote Control Keyfobs |
 |
Remote controlled keyfobs are used for controlling barriers and high security gates, Each remote fob is fully identifiable through the access control software just as if it were a conventional Access Control card. The battries inside the remote controlled fob generally last 5-6 years, after which they can easily be replaced.
